About the Swedish Phenocam Network

This page contains a gallery of image examples from the phenocam networks in Sweden. The images provide snapshots of the status of vegetation through the growing seasons. Time sequences of these images contain information on the phenology (timing) and status of vegetation. In some cases, such images are available for several years, and give us access to useful information on the relationship between climate and vegetation, and provides a live record of ecosystem changes through time.

Phenocam images on this page are collected and managed by three organisations: The Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences (SLU), the Integrated Carbon Observation System Sweden (ICOS Sweden), and the Swedish Infrastructure for Ecosystem Science (SITES). All phenocam images are freely available.

Currently, data access is provided from each specific organisation named at the image examples in the gallery.

  • SLU: Phenocam images and automatic processed data from regions of interest (ROI) from the SLU phenocams is available at the international phenocam network site (https://phenocam.nau.edu/). Easiest access to a specific camera is through clicking on the image in the list below.

  • SITES: Phenocam data are accessible along with other ecosystem data through the SITES data portal (data.fieldsites.se/portal/). Go to the left-hand menu and choose Station, where you select the station you want to download data for, then choose Keyword where you specify Plant Phenology. You will get a list of possible datasets to download in the list to the right. You will get access to metadata, a preview, and a link for downloading data. We provide both imagery and time-series of spectral indices for selected regions of interest.

  • ICOS Sweden: So far, phenocam pictures are accessible via mail contact to data.officer@icos-sweden.se. Elaborated phenocam data are not yet available from the ICOS sites. Howerver, other data from the stations like meteological conditions (meteo), carbon fluxes (fluxes), ecosystem data (as Part of the ETC L2 Archive products) can be downloaded from the Carbon Portal (www.icos-cp.eu), the data repository for ICOS.

More information can be found by continue to each organisation's own site, available through the menu to the left.
